Can anyone sugggest a site for stock video?

Postby FireyFate » 01 Jul 2009, 08:56

I'm looking specifically for a video clip similar to this one...

http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-video-4220935-hd-break-dancing-with-attitude.php

but the way this website's credit purchasing system is, I'd have to pay around 38USD for a 20 second clip of a dude break dancing in 640x360 res.

I'm pretty new at this, but that seems like a crazy price . Am I in for a rude awakening??

Thanks!

Yep, just turn it around, imagine you would need a room, rent lighting, dancers, maybe cam and tripod as well.. then add gasoline for transportation, food for dancers.. then capture, correct, composite, upload... then you maybe sell 5 copies...
Well, thats the pro way. You can also travel to a place where breakers hang out, with your cam in your pocket and kindly ask them. If you do this on a completly clear day you can even pull a good key on the sky.. but these 2 clips will not look the same.. ;)

I see your logic for sure... I wasn't coming up with a lot of results for this type of content through search engines, and figured maybe I was missing a site that might be slightly less commercial, but still provides good content.

But, the Pros have spoken. Too be honest I'm ready to pay the 38 bucks to end my search.

Here's the composition I was looking to use it in.

edit: link removed

Its still in porgress, and I was just trying the preview clip to see if it was going to work in my project... and the bit of text I didn't manage to key out.

If anybody is curious, here is how it came out after buying a clip and cleaning things up a little bit.

Hi everyone.

I think there's not much better than this out there:
http://www.archive.org/details/movies

From their "Rights management":
This collection is free and open for everyone to use.
Our goal in digitizing these movies and putting them online is to provide easy access to a rich and fascinating core collection of archival films.
By providing near-unrestricted access to these films, we hope to encourage widespread use of moving images in new contexts by people who might not have used them before.

"New contexts", that's what we are all about, right? ;) Dig in!!
