phenomenon of illusive lag

Postby dave kiser » 04 Feb 2010, 15:19

There is a lag of a few seconds or so, that occurs at the beginning of some compositions.
Or maybe I've only noticed it when it stands out.
But, there are in effect, two compositions in one; and I might be noticing it when I prefer that first part, before the composition stabilizes.
There isn't enough to make a loop.
So I can't use it in my standard process.
Has anyone come across this phenomenon of illusive lag?

Maybe its the sound system which has not started to track the beat yet? You mean realtime or rendering?

I don't use a sound system to track a beat.
But, it may be something in the setup/preferences related to that.

It is in real time in VJO and in the rendering with VJO.

In fact, some of my compositions will not render through VJO and remain as they were originally. They come out different...changed.
So, I don't render VJO compositions through VJO. I capture them in view window size, and then process them into loops.
Unless the VJO rendering is something I like and can use.

I left you a message on your 4shared.com site that referred to an example.
You can notice the difference between the first few seconds and the stabilized composition.

Sorry, I did not get anything on 4shared. The difference between preview and final output might be cause by different resolution. Thats why I propose to set the preview window to 640*480 and also work with that as render resolution.

also it depends on setting Best Quality or Normal Quality and supersampling can change look of you re compo even more.

There is a lag of a few seconds or so, that occurs at the beginning of some compositions.

begining of playback of you're video file is actually takes some time. Also it happens if you have a huge tree with alot of nodes... I sugest you use PIC video M-Jpeg codec for video and if your comp is messy you can try add smooth in some of it parts. It's better some time to think what you actually like about new effect so you can get same result with less cost.

smooth effect downsampls the node to lower resolution
