In case anybody is curious about this, it works!

Actually, its been working better on Windows 7 than it did in XP for me. XP was locking up quite a bit when I was loading compositions for some reason.

The below information might be redundant, since its the same process for Vista... but I thought it might be useful if someone was considering trying it out.

To get it to work in Win 7, you will need to go to microsoft.com, search for dxwebsetup.exe, and download it. It will recursively update all your missing Direct X stuff.

I also applied all the available updates from http://www.visualjockey.com/beta.htm

After that it works great!

Good info. I seriously think about giving 7 a try. No problems? Did you do FPS comparisions?

Me too!! I'm running in Win7 64 and everithing is faster than XP. I don't have any framerate comparision, but in load is really better. When something happens, like a crash, in a few seconds I can restart VJO and my show. Win 7 is a great perfomance system, everything is running better.

Actually testing this out on Win 7 tonight, and will let you know about Framerates as compared to XP, since I will be running this on two seperate machines for my gig tonight. Wish me luck!!!

Thanks for the info, I am waiting to upgrade my rig to an i7 and windows 7 64-bit in a couple of month, logged on to the forum to see if anyone had tried it in Windows 7, glad to see it's working well.

Would love to see some stats compared to XP as well.

Definitely interested in how this works. I am seeing possible AVI and codec trouble in other topics, I think. (It's hard to follow some of these discussions, as the "vJo lingo" has changed a little since I was last into it. Hehheh.)

Both [XP Pro] machines in my old rig have died miserable deaths since I last performed, and I have been getting requests to come out and play, again. I only have Win7 64-bit i5 and i7s, now. It will be enough of a nightmare (I am guessing) to try to get all of my old compositions imported, working, and re-tweaked for speed after a new install. I would like to be fairly certain about what is possible and/or where the failure points appear to be before I even start down that road.

So, protohippy [or anyone else], if you have any news on this front, please share it. (;

MS (in their great we know best wisdom) removed support for indeo codec, so if any of your clips are encoded in this then you'll need to re-encode

Well, that's probably OK. I have good conversion apps. I think I stuck to cinepak, then uncompressed towards the end, too. Thanks, man.
