Failed to load pkgAvi2.fxp

Nobody's perfect...

Failed to load pkgAvi2.fxp

Postby :stalker: » 15 Feb 2010, 00:11

What does that mean?
OS error 14001

Some, not all videos don't play, just show first frame.
*SOLVED: drag'n'drop doesn't work, but if I point every path within each aviloader the videos play.

Have to say that when loading my old FXC's, vJo tends to freeze, not responding. Even those without any avi at all.
My new notebook runs Win7 pro 64.

I know that MS tok the decision to completely remove indeo codec playback from vista and windows 7 about 2 months ago, that might have something to do with it.

Also vjo error handling for avi playback is at best terrible, but generally it doesn't crash anymore.

error 14001 (after a look up for it) is that bloody vcredist issue coming back to haunt us. Basically speaking MS are making windows development more and more hostile, particlularly for older programs?

Thanks JL for the info.
What to do next? Install some vcredist? Wait for you to change stuff?
Or just ignore the error?

It says it doesn't, but avis are playing in the aviloader and xml-loader. None of them have indeo-codec, picmjpeg instead.

pkgavi2 is the new directx mediaplayer.

I have not tested vjo on windows 7 46 so can't really comment on how it will run as 64 bit is completely unsupported. It's actually being run under WOW (windows on windows) as a 32 but application so you will probably run into all sorts of issues with video codecs.

You are really in uncharted waters here

I don't understand the meaning of your post nor the longterm consequences.
Are there plans for vJo64-development?
Is it possible for you to run tests on win7/64 and see what's wrong with pkgAvi2?

Bump.

JL can you please give an update on this issue? Since 100% of my FXC's are avi-based, this is a VERY serious issue for me. The compositions seem to work but editing them is a hassle and vJo tends to stop responding.
I have tried the recently released pkgAvi5 (=2) with the same result. Major shows coming up in two weeks...

ok, lets ignore everything that has been discussed so far about os errors, etc.

what i need is the os specs.

Then a breakdown of exactly what happens, any error messages and if possible plugins that are causing the issues.

Also a description of what you are wanting to happen and what actually happens.

From there i can attemt to debug :)

ok, if you are not using the new media player plug - remove pkgavi2. that gets the os error out of the way.

Next step, what does vjo do/not do now?

Removed latest pkgAvi2 and restarted vJo, without errors this time. Then opened an avi-based FXC and this is how my screen looked after few seconds...

Funny thing is, that after having posted this, vJo started running again but refuses to stop rendering 8-[
Is there any way I can get you more decent information aside from this vague report?

one of the key things is the 64bit version of windows. vjo is a totally 32bit program and 'may' operate on 64bit versions. it is fully operational on xp64 as this is the dev platform.

I fear that we are going to increasingly come up against operational flaws on vista and win7 because MS are doing their best to prevent older applications from working.

I can only surmise that their current stance is to actively make all xp based applications cease operation to force xp developers to move to win7 - the dev environment is getting increasingly hostile :(

I'm working on a slightly modified version of the avi loader that does some different checking when loading avi's, and might work. still writing it, so bear with me...
